SEIU 2015, the nation’s largest long-term care union, represents more than 400,000 nursing home and home care workers in California. These frontline essential workers have cared for our communities’ most vulnerable, yet are faced with low wages and inadequate protections and benefits. COVID has exacerbated staffing shortages in California’s nursing homes, and nursing home workers are quitting at alarming rates. The nursing home industry nationwide has lost more than 238,000 jobs since the start of the pandemic. This is why SEIU Local 2015 has worked to create the Skilled Nursing Quality Standards Board (SN QSB), and why members are taking action on March 28th up and down the state.
