“Though we were united in our massive effort to elect one of the most pro-union, pro-care champions in history, long-term caregivers are standing strong and remain determined to enact change at the local, state, and national level. In California, 80% of in-home care workers are women and nearly half are immigrants. This new administration will bring renewed challenges, especially the horrific threat of mass deportation of members of our community. Yet, we’ve been here before and SEIU 2015 members—regardless of political leanings—will continue to mobilize and fight for the rights of our members, those we care for, and justice for all. SEIU 2015 remains unwavering in its resolve to protect long-term care workers and ensure they are not left behind.
“SEIU 2015 has always fought for fair wages, safe working conditions, and dignity for those who care for our loved ones. No matter what policies this administration proposes, we will continue to organize, advocate, and take action to protect care workers and the recipients that they care for. We remain so incredibly proud that long-term care workers are the most diverse workforce in California. Our members’ resilience is our strength, and together, we will continue fighting for a fair and just future for hard-working families.”
