SEIU 2015 President Arnulfo De La Cruz issued the following statement after today’s announcement from the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) of its endorsement of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris for reelection:
“As President Biden and Vice President Harris launch their re-election campaign for 2024, SEIU 2015 is proud of our International Union’s endorsement of their candidacy and stands in full support of their continued efforts to strengthen our nation’s access to and quality of care. President Biden is the first president to treat long-term care as the high-priority issue it is. His initial Build Back Better proposal recognized care as vital national infrastructure and proposed significant investment, and his State of the Union address last year directly called out the need to hold nursing home operators accountable. Just this past month, President Biden declared April National Caregivers Month and passed a sweeping executive order that included directives to nearly every cabinet-level agency to expand access to affordable, high-quality care, and provide support for caregivers. We look forward to working with our members and stakeholders to ensure that this administration continues the momentum it has made in making care a national priority.”
