California’s largest labor union, representing nearly 450,000 nursing home and home care workers, applauds the passage of the United to House Los Angeles ballot measure.
Los Angeles, CA—SEIU Local 2015 is excited about the passage of the United to House Los Angeles (ULA) ballot measure. ULA will create a permanent funding stream to reduce homelessness in Los Angeles and protect those in danger of experiencing homelessness. ULA is designed to protect the supply of existing affordable housing in our city, while simultaneously creating new affordable housing in our communities to ensure that working families can live where they work. The passage of this ballot measure will help make this a reality for housing insecure people in our community.
As the nation’s largest long-term care union and California’s largest union, the ULA ballot measure has been a cause close to our hearts. Too many of our members are struggling to make ends meet, particularly as the cost of living in the Los Angeles region grows more expensive by the day. SEIU 2015 President April Verrett served as co-chair of the United to House Los Angeles campaign, and worked tirelessly to confront the city’s affordability crisis, reduce homelessness, and protect our most vulnerable community members.
