700,000 workers strong, SEIU members in CA
Make early choices to support proven champions for working people
Sacramento, CA – Service Employees International Union (SEIU) California’s 700,000 members today announced endorsements in 12 state and congressional races, backing candidates who have demonstrated a strong commitment to empowering workers and our communities in order to create a more inclusive, equitable, and prosperous state.
“When SEIU members endorse a candidate, we go all in, devoting our energy, resources, and time to elect leaders who share our truth: California’s strength depends on growing more power for working people,” said David Huerta, SEIU California President and President of SEIU United Service Workers West (USWW). “We make early endorsements only of candidates whose public service demonstrates a rock solid commitment to empowering workers and fighting for justice.”
Members of SEIU local unions in California come together with one voice to make endorsements for state offices after members meet with candidates and make their recommendations. SEIU local unions in California are made up of workers in frontline, essential roles across the state: nurses, healthcare workers, janitors, social workers, security officers, in-home caregivers, school and university employees, court workers, and city, county and state employees.
