The more than 450,000 members of SEIU 2015, California’s largest labor union, understand that we need leaders up and down the ballot and up and down the state who share our commitment to put care first. SEIU 2015 members mobilized in communities across the state to elect candidates who support working Americans and will join us in the fight for our justice agenda, encompassing economic and racial justice, quality long-term care for all, affordable housing and immigrant rights. SEIU 2015 members knocked on over 50,000 doors, made over 300,000 phone calls to voters, and made clear the power of organized labor in every election.
Many of our endorsed candidates will now advance to November’s General Election. These include, but are not limited to: Dave Min for Congress in Orange County, Sasha Renee Perez and Marisol Rubio for State Senate, Nick Schultz and Sade Elhawary for State Assembly. Many of our endorsed candidates advanced in County Board of Supervisors races, too. Care champions like Cassandra James in Solano, Kate Daniels in Monterey, Nikki Bas in Alameda, as well as Dr. Flo Cofer leading for the mayoral race in Sacramento.
We look forward to continuing to work with candidates and elected officials across the state and encourage them to join us in support of our justice agenda and our efforts to improve the future of care.
