Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass held a press conference with United to House Los Angeles and SEIU Local 2015, the nation’s largest long-term care union and California’s largest labor union representing nearly 450,000 nursing home workers and home care providers. This took place after housing experts convened with Mayor Bass to discuss possible solutions to the housing crisis such as Direct Cash Assistance for Seniors, well-paying high quality jobs, and tenant protection and outreach.
SEIU 2015 fights every day to improve the rights and working conditions of our members – the majority of whom are women of color – and this includes advocating for their right to safe, affordable housing. Nearly 50,000 SEIU 2015 members live in Los Angeles. Additionally, many of the folks that SEIU 2015 members care for are themselves low-income and vulnerable to losing their homes as well. United to House Los Angeles and SEIU Local 2015 hosted Mayor Karen Bass to discuss how to keep Los Angeles affordable for hard-working Angelenos.
