MetLife DHMO and MetLife DPPO Dental Plans

DHMO covers orthodontia, which is the treatment of irregularities in the teeth caused by alignment or occlusion. DPPO plan allows members the freedom to choose their own dentist. Both plans include implant coverage.

What is the difference between DHMO and DPPO Dental?

With DHMO Dental, you must be assigned to an in-network dentist to access benefits. DHMO member cost-share are set copays which can be found on the plan’s benefit summary. List of benefits summaries can be found here, in the right hand column.

With DPPO Dental, you have the freedom to see any dentist you choose. You will receive greater discounts when you visit a MetLife in-network dentist, but you do have the option to receive care from a non-contracted out-of-network dentist.

The Scheduled Reimbursement DPPO plan covers a set amount regardless of what the dentist bills. The Coinsurance DPPO plan covers a set percentage based on the category of the covered service and includes orthodontia.
