San Joaquin In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) workers are getting ready to bargain our next union contract! Through this process, we have the opportunity to:
- Increase wages & benefits
- Secure funds for training & equipment we need to do our jobs
- Improve our lives and those we care for
Meet the San Joaquin IHSS workers who will represent you at the bargaining table!
Victoria Escalante has been an IHSS provider for 17 years and currently provides care to two clients with disabilities.
“I am committed to fighting for better wages, improved health benefits, and a retirement plan. Knowledge is power, and we have power in numbers!”
Paul Henderson Sr. has been an IHSS provider for 9 years and currently provides care for a friend who has a permanent disability.
“I got involved with the union because IHSS providers need and deserve better working conditions. When we stand together, we win.”
Sandra Kleinman has been an IHSS provider for more than 20 years and currently provides care for her two sons who live with disabilities.
“In order for our voices to be heard, we need to be involved! I’m committed to negotiating a contract with living hourly wages, more paid sick days, and better healthcare benefits.”
Lupe Smith has been an IHSS provider for 19 years and provides care for husband.
“We deserve respect and dignity for the work we do, and I’m committed to fighting for higher wages, better benefits, and future retirement. Our voices together make us stronger!”
Your bargaining committee is fiercely committed to doing all we can to secure the strongest contract possible—but we can’t do it without the solidarity of our San Joaquin and SEIU 2015 community. With the collective power of more than 8,000 IHSS workers across San Joaquin, we will build toward a just and equitable Future of Care.
