To help us prepare for this year’s General Elections, SEIU 2015 will be hosting Democracy School this summer!
Our wide-ranging political program is a series of classes that the union hosts to inform members about how our government—of the people, by the people, and for the people—works and how to get engaged politically. In Democracy School, you will learn about:
- The three branches of government
- How a bill becomes a law
- The state budget process
- Worker political power and our Caregiver Action Fund
- How to download and operate the phone app we use when door-knocking
- General election updates and activism
We are offering seven Democracy School sessions throughout the state, and each session begins at 8:30 AM and ends at 4:30 PM:
- July 13 – Long Beach – Long Beach Community College
- July 20 – Shasta – Shasta Community College
- July 27 – Fresno – Unitarian Church
- August 3 – Los Angeles – LA Trade Tech
- August 10 – Sacramento – La Sierra Community Center
- August 17 – San Bernardino – SB Tech College
- August 24 – Berkeley – Berkeley Adult School
The election in November is going to be one of the most consequential elections in decades. Attending Democracy school is a great way to get informed and get involved. We hope to see you there!
