WHAT: Assemblymembers Liz Ortega, Mia Bonta, and Matt Haney will join SEIU Local 2015 President Arnulfo De La Cruz for a round table discussion on the issues plaguing the long-term care industry and their support for AB 1672. There will be introductory remarks followed by an audience Q&A.

SEIU Local 2015 is the largest union in California, representing nearly 450,000 long-term care workers (home care, skilled nursing facility, and assisted living center workers) throughout the state. California is experiencing a caregiving crisis, with fragmented program administration, split between 56 public authorities, keeping workers constantly struggling for marginal wage gains. Most counties pay barely above minimum wage; not a single county in California pays home care providers a living wage. The proposed bill will enable direct negotiations with the State to get home care providers a living wage and the recruitment, training, and retention needed to transform the workforce.
