WASHINGTON, DC – Today the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) announced its endorsement of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris for reelection.

“President Biden has consistently backed workers who are fighting to win their unions,” said SEIU President Mary Kay Henry. “From his first day in office when he fired the anti-union NLRB General Counsel to the Executive Order that he signed last week to lift up care workers, he has delivered for working people. Under President Biden, we have created a record 12 million new jobs, lowered healthcare costs, passed historic funding to address climate change, reversed most of Trump’s toxic anti-immigrant policies and made more people eligible for Temporary Protected Status (TPS) than all previous presidents combined.”

SEIU members and leaders are showing their support for President Biden by recording TikTok videos about why re-electing the President is good for working people. The videos can be found on SEIU’s TikTok page, which has the biggest following of any union on the social media app.

“The stakes are incredibly high, and we can’t risk the progress we’ve made under the most pro-worker and pro-union president in U.S. history,” Henry said. “President Biden is the leader we need to rewrite the rules in favor of working people—not corporations—and safeguard our freedoms in the face of dangerous authoritarianism rising in states across the country. That’s why SEIU members are ready to get to work to re-elect President Biden and Vice President Harris and fight for Unions for All.”

The endorsement is a continuation of SEIU’s work to drive a Unions for All agenda that resonated with voters in 2020 to help win the White House and Congress and in 2022 to hold the Senate. SEIU is ready to build on Biden’s actions to back workers by engaging voters—especially infrequent voters of color in battleground states—in the pivotal 2024 elections in which workers’ ability to join unions, immigrant justice, reproductive freedom and fundamental civil rights for all people are on the line.
