After several months of negotiations, workers at a Eureka long-term care facility have ratified their first union contract.
Of the 28 members of SEIU Local 2015 who voted Sept. 2, 22 voted to ratify the collective bargaining agreement with the management of Granada Rehabilitation and Wellness Center. While they weren’t able to get a $20 per hour wage floor, Margaret Caldwell, who worked at the facility for 14 years and is now an intern at SEIU, said the contract includes some key victories for employees, including access to four shop stewards who can be their advocates during disciplinary matters.
